Cosmote is a subsidiary of Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE), the local fixed telephony incumbent, and is the largest of the three mobile phone operators, mainly because its network is deemed as the most reliable and it usually offers the lowest prices.

If you want to operate your mobile phone using a local SIM card, Cosmote offers two "a la Carte" connection programs, called Cosmokarta and , which are sold through newstands, Cosmote stores, and other locations with the Cosmote logo.

The package contains the SIM card that connects you to the Cosmote network, a manual, and some brochures.

The charges are about 33 cents per minute for calls within Greece, about 65 cents per minute for calls to Europe, and about 75 cents per minute for calls to North America, Australia, and New Zealand.

If you also need a mobile phone, in addition to a local connection, Cosmote stores offer deals on connection-cum-handset, for about €200-300.

Cosmote's corporate site with all the latest offers and pricing information is at www.cosmote.gr
